Satisfying Merdeka Rant
Bismillah.
Hey there, whoever reading this.
Tonight is the first night where I finally start a new journey, being an undergraduate student. So since, I have a lot of random things in mind, I'm going to rant here.
If you're not ready for any rantings, just leAVE this post and go.
Wow, that's harsh.
Rants start; NOW!
By the way guys, it's the night of Independence day of Malaysia. I'm writing this at 11.28 p.m. so there's about 30 minutes before it's 31 August 2018.
And this year, we are celebrating the 61st year.
Damn son, I don't even realized that.
You know, how when we were small, teachers at school would start to held such Merdeka Month Programme with VARIOUSSSS ACTIVITIESS. And I'm one of the kids who actually got really excited and would go home asking my parents to buy Jalur Gemilang because I was like a woke patriotic kid like that at that time.
But then, serious talk.
Merdeka Celebrations were much merrier during primary school.
And lol. While writing this my Youtube notification shows me a new video from MTAS Production entitled Iklan Merdeka 2018- Kembali. So I guess, I can say go and watch it (?) (what a sudden promotion) (this is not a paid review) (even though I haven't watch it yet)
Ok back to the topic.
Merdeka was so much better back then.
In the month of August, I could feel the Merdeka Vibes everywhere I go. Like the Jalur Gemilang were freaking everywhere and the TVs be like playing all the patriotic song that ever existed in Malaysia. Plus I went to school everyday, the vibes were so much stronger there.
The competitions held were freaking exciting such as decorating classes, singing patriotic song and so on that I couldn't remember because I have a memory of an ostrich like that. But still, I remember when I was in standard 2, my class was decorated with various kind of patriotic decoration. There's Jalur Gemilang everywhere, and then we have the state's flags and then we have the prime ministers' pictures and information and so on.
And dude, of course, my class won.
And as for the singing competition, it was in my standard 4. My class formed a group of girls to join it. So, I decided to join since I have this weird obsession to singing. I remember on the day of the competition, for our uniforms, we wore baju kurung except the kain is kain batik.
And to all Malay girls who wear kain batik, you know what's the main problem with kain batik.
It doesn't stay still.
As a kid, no doubt the kain batik will fell off just by a few minutes after I went walking in it. So, Mama made me a skirt out of the kain batik, which of course helped me a lot. Instead of needing to fold using special techniques to wear it on, I can now just slip my legs into the skirt, and push it up to my waist and it stays there forever.
Dude, I could never forget that. Mama saved my pride.
We sang Keranamu Malaysia, because apparently it's not a famous song among the competitors. The famous songs were first, of course Warisan and then few of them would go and sing Jalur Gemilang, Tanggal 31 and so on. So we got into the top three and the final competition will be held ON THE OFFICIAL MERDEKA CELEBRATION DAY.
So, we performed one more time and managed to get the third place. That was quite satisfying as a kid.
Then I remember how Papa would ask me to help him to set up the Jalur Gemilang at our front gate and then I would be standing there excitedly, seeing the Jalur Gemilang proudly at a random pole at our gate.
Merdeka was fun, back then.
Now I could not even feel the vibes of August the Merdeka Month.
It feels wrong and weird and sad.
The vibes from the songs were different too.
I used to memorize all the patriotic songs during my childhood time, but then right now, when a new song comes out, I would not even give them my attention. So, yeah.
I think, Merdeka Celebration does get duller when we age up.
It's like, we're busy with our own life so we don't need to remember how hard Tanah Melayu gains independence 61 years ago.
And right now, it's one minute before 12.00 am. And I'm just going to write and write and write and write and oh
It's 12.00 a.m of 31st August.
*shouts merdeka 7 times inside because roommates are all sleeping*
So happy Independence Day, Malaysia! May Malaysia become the first class country with great wealth, great mindset, great people, great food (no, i'm not going to forget the food), great culture that people would be mentioning Malaysia as often they mention Korea & Japan right now.
And then, I realized how I love all of these rantings because it felt sincere from my heart,
You guys, if you read my previous post, I'd told you guys that I have a problem in writing. "I didn't felt right, I can't write" and so on.
But damn, all the thing that I rant just now was odd but not surprisingly satisfying. Guess I'll do more midnight rants after this hahahaa.
But yeah, it's still Merdeka and I hope every Malaysians who were reading this would realize that Merdeka Day is not only a public holiday where we get a day off work and stay at home, lazing around like a freaking sloth.
And if you're going to laze around at home in front of the TV, then the least you can do is watch the Independece Celebration Parade that we have EVERY FREAKING YEAR on Merdeka Day. I used to watch back then, but then I started to not feel those Merdeka Vibes so I end up waking up late on 31st August every year, and miss the coolest parade ever.
And guess I won't watch it this year too since my room at college has no TV.
Ehem. By the way.
Merdeka Day, is about remembering the hardship that our previous leaders faced to get our independece of Tanah Melayu. Don't forget that Malaysia gets it independence through a professional way, and not through war. Therefore, stop picking out a fight from the other races, no matter you are Malay, Chinese, Indians, Kadazan-dusun, Iban and so on. Stop being racist beccause duh, racist is not cool.
God created those other races so who are you to judging and hating other races just because they are different from us? Immature, sis.
And wow. I do sound like a woke patriotic kid now hahahahaha.
Ok bye.
Just gonna drop this here, the song I sang few years back, because I'm semi-patriotic right now.
So I end this post at 12.29 a.m. Wow, a 30+ minutes of ranting.
Good job bruh.
